이상일의 한의원 영어- “English of, for and by 한의사” (18)
Dr.Lee: How are you today, Anna?
Anna: Pretty good but my left elbow hurts.
Dr.Lee: Where does it hurt, the inside or the outside?
Anna: It’s outside. It hurts when I try to twist my forearm or grab something. It feels like something is pulling on my elbow.
Dr.Lee: Let me take a look. Does it hurt when I press here?
Anna: Yes.
Dr.Lee: Stretch your arm out and push back against my hand. (Cozen Test)
Anna: Ouch! My elbow hurts.
Dr.Lee: When did you start to feel the pain?
Anna: About 2 weeks ago.
Dr.Lee: This condition is called lateral epicondylitis, generally known as ‘tennis elbow’.
Anna: Is it? But I’ve never played tennis before.
Dr.Lee: Its name comes from tennis but it doesn’t have much to do with tennis. It’s an overuse injury that can be caused mainly by repetitive use and also by playing tennis.
* it doesn’t have much to do with~ : ~와 많은 연관성이 있지는 않다
Anna: How long does it take to get better?
Dr.Lee: It depends on how long it has been and what type of therapy I use. Roughly it takes 2~6 weeks to relieve the pain.
Anna: Should I stop working and try not to use my forearm?
Dr.Lee: It is strongly recommended that you not use your forearm but it is almost impossible to stop using your arm and hand. So I would say just try to avoid using your forearm too much.
Anna: Ok, doctor. Thank you very much.
