안녕하세요! 이번시간에는 한의원 단골질환 중의 하나인 급체에 관한 대화를 다뤄보도록 하겠습니다.
급체 증상도 감별을 하고 신중히 접근해야할 경우가 많지만 일반적인 경우를 상정하여 대화를 구성해보았습니다. 같이 살펴보시죠^^

Dr.Lee: What can I do for you?

Robert: I got stomach cramps. It’s so painful that I can hardly breathe. I feel dizzy and nauseous.

Dr.Lee: What did you eat?

Robert: I ate pasta for lunch. I was in a little hurry so I had to finish it as fast as I could.

Dr.Lee: All right. I’ll check your body temperature first. Hmm... it’s normal. Would you lie down on the bed? I need to see your abdomen. Please tell me if you feel tenderness on any point of your abdomen.
Robert: Ouch! That hurt! Please go easy doctor...

Dr.Lee: It’s done. You’re experiencing an acute dyspepsia, and by that I mean, indigestion. It may have an identifiable cause, such as bacterial or viral infection, peptic ulcer, gallbladder, or liver disease but in many cases, you can live with it. It can be also caused by stress. If there’s any rebound tenderness, it means that you may have inflammation in your abdominal cavity. You don’t seem to have any rebound tenderness.
Robert: What do you suggest then? I’m dying now.

Dr.Lee: Let’s go to the treatment room. Acupuncture is a very effective way to relieve the symptoms. Are you afraid?

Robert: It doesn’t matter what you do. Just save me!!

Dr.Lee: (시술후) All right. Now, take a deep breath and let it out slowly. Repeat it for 20 minutes. How do you feel now?

Robert: As soon as you pricked the needles, it felt like the sky was clearing up!

Dr.Lee: Keep breathing and I’ll give you some herbal medicine. It facilitates* peristalsis** and enzyme secretion.
*facilitate: 촉진하다
**peristalsis: 연동운동

Robert: Thank you so much, doctor.
Dr.Lee: You’re welcome.
